How we work

Six steps.

Structured to avoid the expensive late-stage problems that make website projects go over budget.

Days 1–3
Brief & Strategy

We agree the project brief in writing: scope, pages, goals, timeline, and responsibilities. Ambiguities get resolved before any design work begins.

01
02
Week 1–2
Design Concept

Homepage and one key interior page, designed in Figma. You approve the visual direction here before we design the rest of the site.

Week 2–4
Full Design

All remaining pages designed from the approved concept. Each page follows a structured layout logic, not a random arrangement.

03
04
Week 3–6
Development

Design translated into code. Mobile, tablet, and desktop tested as we build. No surprises on delivery.

Week 5–7
Review & Revision

Structured revision rounds. You review all pages together, provide consolidated feedback, and we implement changes.

05
06
Week 6–8
Launch & Handover

Site goes live. We handle DNS, SSL, redirects. You receive the Figma file, login credentials, and a plain-English guide to managing the site.

Clients on working with Pelican.

They explained exactly what they were doing and why. We did not feel like we were just handing over money and hoping for the best. The process was clear and the result was exactly what we needed.

Andrea Bianchi
Andrea Bianchi
Owner, Fattoria Le Corbezzole

Our patients were struggling to find us online and book appointments. Within a month of the new website, our reception was fielding half the calls it used to. The online form did the work.

Dr. Federica Conti
Dr. Federica Conti
Medical Director, Studio Medico San Spirito

The e-commerce site is beautiful and easy for our team to manage. We have customers from Germany and the UK now who we would never have reached through the physical shop. It has genuinely changed our business.

Gianni Ferretti
Gianni Ferretti
Owner, Bottega Fiorentina

Marco was honest when our brief was unclear and pushed back on things that would not have served us. Not every agency does that. It saved us time and money.

The team

Three people.
All the work done here.

Marco Rossi
Creative Director & Founder
Marco Rossi

Marco has been building websites for businesses in Tuscany since 2009. He started Pelican in 2017 to focus on smaller, well-made projects rather than volume. Before Pelican, he ran digital for a Florence communications agency for five years.

Laura Benedetti
Lead Designer
Laura Benedetti

Laura joined Pelican in 2019. She studied visual communication in Florence and has a particular interest in designing for small businesses in traditional sectors — artisan, agricultural, professional services — that often get generic design treatment.

Stefano Pellegrini
Frontend Developer
Stefano Pellegrini

Stefano handles all frontend development and performance work. He is obsessive about load speed and Lighthouse scores in a way that clients rarely care about until they see the difference it makes to enquiry rates.

Yes. We are based in Stabbia, in the Province of Florence. Most of our clients are in Tuscany and Central Italy, though we work with clients across Italy and occasionally in other European countries.
Landing pages: 2–3 weeks. Business websites: 4–5 weeks. E-commerce: 6–8 weeks. Redesigns vary depending on complexity. The brief meeting on day one clarifies the timeline for each project.
Yes. We build and copy-edit in both Italian and English. If a website needs both languages, multilingual support can be added.
Yes. We build sites with a simple CMS (typically WordPress) when the client wants to manage content. We include a plain-English guide to making updates and a training session.
A project brief, any brand materials you have (logo, colours, fonts), example websites you like or dislike, and access to your current website or hosting if relevant.
We do not sell hosting directly, but we recommend and configure hosting with Italian providers (Aruba, SiteGround IT) or international ones (WP Engine, Kinsta) depending on the project requirements.
